What sets us apart.
20+ Years Experience
Established in 2014, led by 20+ years of hands-on experience installing commercial security across Queensland's most demanding environments.
End-to-End Delivery
Design, install, commission and maintain — same team, no subcontracting, no handoffs.
Remote Capability
Off-grid power, long-range wireless and hardened systems for mining camps and remote sites.
A small, experienced team. Built for the jobs that require both.
Who we are.
Davas Group is a Queensland-based security and technology systems company, established in 2014 and led by more than 20 years of hands-on industry experience. We've built our reputation on delivering complex, large-scale installations that require genuine technical capability — not just equipment supply.
We are a small, senior team. We don't subcontract our work or dilute quality across too many jobs. Every project is overseen by experienced people who know what they're doing.
What we do.
We design and install security systems, audio visual infrastructure, data and communications cabling, and wireless networks — across commercial buildings, industrial facilities, mining camps, and remote rural properties.
On remote and off-grid sites we integrate solar and battery systems to ensure everything runs reliably regardless of mains availability.
Who we work with.
Our clients include commercial property developers and managers, builders and head contractors, mining operators, government agencies, and facility managers responsible for large or complex sites.
We focus on projects where scope, complexity, or environment demands a team with real experience — and where clients expect accountability from start to finish.

Licence plate recognition for retirement villages and gated communities
For a retirement village or gated community, the entry gate is where security either works or doesn't. Remotes get lost, gate codes get shared, and when something goes wrong, nobody can say which car came through at 2am. Licence plate recognition (LPR) fixes most of that.
What LPR actually does
An LPR camera is mounted at the entry and exit lanes and reads the number plate of each vehicle as it approaches. The plate is checked against a list. If it matches a resident or approved contractor, the boom gate or sliding gate opens automatically. If it doesn't, the visitor uses the intercom as normal.
Every read is logged with the plate, time, lane and an image of the vehicle. That log is the real value. Months later, management can search a plate or a time window and see exactly who came and went.
Why it suits villages
Residents don't need to fumble for a remote or wind down a window to enter a code.
Lost or shared remotes stop being a security problem — access is tied to the vehicle.
Contractors and carers can be added for set days or a set period, then drop off automatically.
Management gets a searchable record of vehicle movements for incidents, damage or disputes.
Unknown or flagged plates can trigger an alert to staff.
Getting it right on site
LPR is only as good as the install. Camera angle, distance to the plate, vehicle speed and lighting all matter. A camera that reads perfectly at noon can struggle at night with headlights in its face. We set up dedicated LPR cameras with proper infrared and shutter settings, position them for the approach speed of the lane, and test day and night before handover.
It also has to talk to the gate. The camera result needs to trigger the gate controller reliably, and fail safe if the network drops. That's where it pays to have the access control, CCTV and gate side done by one team.
Privacy and signage
Plate and vehicle images are personal information, so the village should have clear signage at the entry and a simple policy on who can view the logs and how long they're kept. We can help set retention on the system to match whatever the body corporate or operator decides.
Where to start
Most villages can add LPR to an existing gate and intercom setup without starting from scratch. A site visit tells us what's there, what needs upgrading, and how the resident list will be managed day to day.
Why we use Inner Range for building access control
When a building needs access control that will still be doing its job in ten years, Inner Range is usually our first choice. It's Australian-designed, built for commercial sites, and it handles the awkward real-world requirements that cheaper systems can't.
Remote access for the customer
Building managers don't want to call us every time someone loses a card or a tenant changes hours. With Inner Range, the customer can manage users, cards and schedules themselves, lock or unlock doors, and check what's happened — from the office or remotely. We set up the permissions so the right people can do the right things, and nothing more.
Rules that fit the building
This is where Inner Range really earns its place. The system lets us write custom logic for how the site behaves. A few examples of the kind of thing it can do:
Unlock the front doors at opening time only if the first staff member has badged in.
Automatically arm areas of the alarm when the last person leaves a floor.
Hold a door open for deliveries during set hours, and alert if it's propped outside them.
Give cleaners access to certain floors on certain nights only.
Lock everything down from one input in an emergency.
Rules like these mean the building runs itself the way the owner actually wants, rather than people working around the system.
Access and alarms together
Inner Range combines access control and intrusion alarm in one platform. Doors, readers, alarm zones and areas all live in the same system, so arming, disarming and access are linked instead of fighting each other. It also integrates with CCTV, lifts and other building systems where needed.
Built to grow
A site can start with a handful of doors and expand floor by floor or across multiple buildings without replacing the core. For owners with long-term plans, that matters more than the upfront price.
Is it right for your site?
Not every job needs it. For a small office with two doors, there are simpler options. But for commercial buildings, multi-tenant sites, villages and anything with real complexity, it's hard to beat. We're happy to walk the site and tell you straight.
Most businesses with more than one site end up with a mess of CCTV: a different recorder at each location, a different app for each, and nobody quite sure which one is recording properly. A server-based video management system (VMS) like Nx Witness changes that.
What Nx Witness is
Nx Witness, developed by Network Optix, is video management software that runs on a server rather than a standalone recorder box. Cameras stream to the server, which handles recording, storage and events. Staff then use one desktop or mobile app to see every camera at every site.
Same system, every site
The big advantage for multi-site customers is consistency. Each property gets the same platform, the same layouts and the same way of doing things. Add a new site and it slots into the same system. Users log in once and see what they're allowed to see across the whole business.
Using the cameras you trust
Nx Witness works with a huge range of IP cameras, so we can keep using proven hardware like Hikvision cameras while gaining a far more capable platform on top. Existing compatible cameras can often be brought across rather than replaced.
Built for reliability
When a site has more than one server, they keep each other in sync. If one fails, its cameras can automatically move to another server and keep recording. That kind of redundancy is hard to achieve with standalone recorders.
Fast search and smart events
Finding footage is quick: search by time, camera, motion in an area, or events. Rules can send alerts, trigger outputs or bookmark footage when something specific happens, which saves hours when you're chasing an incident.
Who it suits
Businesses with multiple properties or branches.
Villages, body corporates and property groups managing several sites.
Larger single sites with lots of cameras and multiple people viewing.
Anyone who wants to own their system without ongoing per-camera cloud fees.
Planning a move
Moving to a server-based system is a design job, not just a swap. Network, storage, server sizing and remote access all need to be right. We look at what you have, what can be kept, and build a plan that can be rolled out site by site.

Consultancy
Expert guidance. No agenda.
Independent security consultancy for clients who want the right answer — not just a sales pitch.
Why engage a security consultant?
Most security companies make money selling equipment and labour. That means their recommendations are shaped by what they install, not necessarily what you need.
Davas Group offers independent consultancy — design, auditing, and advisory services where our only obligation is to give you the right advice. We can work alongside your project team, your architect, or your existing security supplier.
We also install. But when you engage us for consultancy, that's what you get — not a sales process dressed up as advice.
01
System Design & Specification
We work with builders, architects, developers, and project managers to design security and technology systems before a tender goes out. A well-written specification protects you from vague quotes, scope creep, and systems that don't actually meet your requirements.
We produce detailed design documentation covering equipment selection, system architecture, installation methodology, and performance requirements — giving you a specification that any qualified contractor can price against.
Suited toNew commercial builds, fitouts, developments, campus upgrades, government projects
We audit existing security infrastructure to give you an honest picture of what you have, what's working, what isn't, and what needs attention. No obligation to purchase — just a clear, independent assessment.
Audit engagements are common when a new facilities manager takes over a site, when a lease is ending, or when a business wants to understand its security posture before making investment decisions.
The security and AV technology landscape is complex. Access control platforms, CCTV standards, IP versus analogue, cloud versus on-premise, wireless versus cabled — the number of decisions can be overwhelming, and the wrong choice is expensive to undo.
We help clients understand their options, evaluate competing platforms, and make technology decisions that fit their environment, their budget, and their long-term plans — without being tied to any particular vendor outcome.
